Special Events

If you enjoyed our festive Christmas party last year or appreciated the work and detail of our Passover Seder, you have Special Events to thank. If you benefited from our Financial Stewardship and Peacemakers Seminars, Special Events made them possible. If you enjoyed our sense of community from going ice skating together last winter or are looking forward to our time together at our Family Retreat over Labor Day weekend, this too is the work of Special Events. As you all know, such happenings don’t simply come together on their own, but call for creativity, planning and attention to detail.

Among the motivations for such work, beyond the joy of service and the camaraderie that goes along with it, is the place that Special Events fills among us at All Souls. Special Events bind us together in community rooted in Christ, even as they also extend that community and enfold others into it. In other words, they offer us opportunities to share life together – whether that’s enjoying a meal on a significant occasion or learning about and thinking through a vital aspect of life – and to share and extend that same life to others. With fall fast approaching, we look forward to more such happenings.

Presently, our Special Events are led by our dynamic duo of Jan Hughes and Laurie Chin. While there are those who, for each event, provide needed help and support in many ways, there is a genuine need to expand the team beyond Jan and Laurie. Whether you are a creative type or a person who’s attentive to detail and administratively gifted, Special Events provides a setting in which to become directly involved in creating lasting memories that move us along in our mission together at All Souls.

Please consider bringing your gifts and talents to this important ministry. To get involved or to inquire about a Special Event, email specialevents@allsoulscommunity.com.
