Children’s Ministry

Welcome to All Souls Kids!

At All Souls Community Church, we love our children.  It is our desire to create a family-friendly environment in which our children grow to know the things of God both alongside us, and at their own level.  For that reason, our children begin to worship with their family, in the pew.  They sing with us, and pray, and listen as the needs of the body are shared.  Just prior to the sermon, our children are dismissed to classes led by screened volunteers who creatively point a child’s natural curiosity toward God’s heart.  And the children end their worship as they began it: returning to their families just before the Lord’s Supper.   Of course, our babies (up to age 3) are invited to play and enjoy the entire service in our nursery with our CPR-certified Nursery Supervisor, Jeanette Javier.  The first Sunday of every month is “Family Sunday.”   On Family Sunday, all children (except for nursery children) remain in the sanctuary for the entire service.  Families experience the service together, teaching our traditions and helping our little ones participate as they are able.  A children’s bulletin is also provided on Family Sunday.

Loving Lambs Nursery (babies to age 3):

Even though they are young, our babies are shown their place in God’s plan.   They are prayed over.  And as they play, the stories of God’s truth are shared in song, rhymes, and fingerplays.  We want our babies to grow up knowing Christ and His love for them.  Our Nursery Supervisor, Jeannette Javier, is a CPR-certified, professional childcare provider and mother.  She is present at all services to create a stable, predictable experience for our lambs.

Arrival /Pickup Procedure:
Parents will sign their child into and out of the nursery, indicating feeding needs and diapering preferences. Each child will be assigned a pager which will be used both to contact parent as needed and also to verify children are returned to their own family.

Helpful Information:
*We carefully maintain a low child/teacher ratio.
*In order to provide an allergy-friendly nursery, we request that parents not bring any food into the nursery. Goldfish crackers and water will be available to all children as indicated by parents at sign-in. Labels ensure personal items go home with you.
*Diapers will be changed by our paid Nursery Supervisor or parent ONLY (as indicated at sign-in).

Cuddlebugs Preschool Class (3 years to starting Kindergarten):

Young children learn by doing, not sitting.  Play is their work.  When we can connect Bible truths to things children are involved in doing, the words take on meaning and become connected with the actions.  Starting in the Fall of 2011, we will be using Gospel Light’s preschool materials –an interactive colorful way to play, listen, and talk as they discover how God love connects to their daily lives.

Theme: “I can LEARN about God.  I can KNOW God loves me.  I can SHOW God’s love.”

Arrival/Pickup Procedure:
Teachers will lead children from the service to their classrooms after Kingdom Prayer and will return children to the sanctuary before Lord’s Supper.

Teaching Staff: Jenny Chan, Dan Corti, Rebecca Ferranti, Nevine Hanna, Kathryn Marciano, Christin Reinmuth, Shin-Nae Shin

Kingdom Kids (gr. K-1) and Covenant Kids (gr. 2-5) Classes:

The whole Bible tells the God’s story of seeking a relationship with us.  Beginning with Creation, God laid the foundation for redemption.  It’s a relationship made possible only through Jesus.  It began with Him.  The entire Bible is the story of Jesus’ love.  Starting in the Fall of 2011 we will explore the first book, the book of Genesis from creation through the life of Joseph, to discover that God always has a plan.

Theme: Did you know? Genesis tells about the beginning of the world, God’s promise to send Jesus, and best of all, God’s plan for you!

Arrival/Pickup Procedure:
Teachers will lead children from the service to their classrooms after Kingdom Prayer and will return children to the sanctuary before Lord’s Supper.

Discipline Procedure:
Children will be lovingly and prayerfully encouraged to follow the community rules.  We want our children to understand their role in their church family.  And, in this setting, to practice SHOWING love, and seeking peace with others.  Our community rules are short, simple, and designed to keep our children always looking outward for opportunities to serve.

Community Rules:
1. Listen to your teacher.
2. Be kind to one another.
3. Be safe.

Teaching Staff: Jae and Lori Bae, Phil Lee, Yuklin Ling-Fisler, Esther Kim, Charles Loudermilk, Elizabeth Marciano, Ruth Pandolfo, Andrea Panjwani, Hyun Rim, Abby Sherman,  Lincoln and Kathy Sohn, Doug Walker.
